A shoot-out on the border between the Mexican states of Michoacan and Jalisco has left at least 43 people dead.
A Federal Police convoy is understood to have come under fire when it arrived in the area on Friday morning.
The region is known to be dominated by the Jalisco New Generation Cartel.
